Hidden under crevices and rocks along the coast of Maine lives a sought after crustacean. With its brown, grimy exoskeleton, unwieldy antennae and claws, one would never guess that the lobster can morph into such a bright red, beautiful…delicious dinner.
I have many fond childhood memories of my summer vacations in Maine— the smell of sea air, a lighthouse’s reassuring fog horn, and, of course, the unforgettable taste of fresh lobster. However, it isn’t just the sweet taste of lobster that I remember. It was the experience of choosing my lobster, nervously dropping it into the pot, and the sense of accomplishment after skillfully dismembering it that I remember so fondly.
