I’m not afraid to admit that I love food and will try anything once. Since I love to make, smell, taste, and indulge in food, I also like to adventure out and try things most people refuse to look at. One evening I was at a sushi restaurant with a bunch of my close friends. My good friend decided that he would order the weirdest/grossest thing on the menu and dared me to eat it for $20. I agreed and when it arrived at the table, the waiter said it was the reproductive system of a sea urchin. It looked like a salmon-colored bubble. I picked up my chopsticks and proceeded to slowly drop the piece of food in my mouth. The texture was very slimy, chewy, and tasted like earwax—not that I know what that tastes like. I tried to swallow it as I felt my gag reflex hit me. I took a large gulp of my wine and washed it down. Everyone at the table was disgusted that I ate it, but I still had $20 coming. I’m not afraid to try anything, but maybe next time I should ask for more of an incentive before putting something into my mouth. I’m not exactly sure where it came from.
